Discover Hussey’S Fish & Chips, a family-run seaside restaurant at 3-5 Sandbeck Ave, Skegness PE25 3PX, United Kingdom, offering traditional British fish and chips just a short walk from the seafront. From a food blogger’s perspective, Hussey’S Fish & Chips combines the familiar pleasures of a classic chippy with the comfort of a sit-down restaurant, making it useful for families who want more than a takeaway box. Full waiter service, a colourful seaside theme, and a menu extending beyond fried fish give it a broader appeal than many straightforward coastal chip shops.
The menu focuses on traditional fish and chips but also includes haddock, battered sausages, burgers, jacket potatoes, paninis, halloumi fries, breakfasts, desserts, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. Gluten-free diners are particularly well accommodated, with recent specialist listings confirming gluten-free fish and chips, gravy, and other choices. Takeaway is available alongside indoor dining, while Wi-Fi, toilets, wheelchair access, and group-friendly facilities add convenience.
The essential order at Hussey’S Fish & Chips in Skegness is the Fish and Chips. Recent diners describe fish with a soft, flaky centre beneath crunchy, light batter, accompanied by traditional thick-cut chips. One customer summed it up as “Fish was amazingly soft and batter was crunchy!” Another praised the freshness and airy batter after visiting during a busy period. These positive reports show why this remains the restaurant’s defining dish.
The Chip Shop Platter is a better choice for diners arriving especially hungry. Customers warn that it is a substantial meal, making it suitable for anyone wanting to sample a more generous portion of classic chip-shop favourites. For something different, the Halloumi Fries earn enthusiastic recommendations, bringing a crisp exterior and salty, chewy cheese centre that works well alongside the heavier traditional dishes.
Atmosphere is another distinctive feature of Hussey’S Fish & Chips. The dining room uses a cheerful beach-hut theme with booths and seaside-inspired décor, giving families somewhere comfortable to sit away from the bustle outside. Recent guests describe it as sweet, cosy, clean, and welcoming. Children receive an especially memorable touch: kids’ meals are served in a small bucket with a spade that they can keep afterward.
Value and consistency are the main considerations. While many recent customers praise generous portions and friendly service, others have complained about prices, smaller-than-expected portions, slower service, or inconsistent fish and chips. A May 2026 customer reported paying £25.74 for two small chips, a chip cob, and a small fish, while a September 2026 family reported spending more than £70 on four adult meals with drinks and sides.
For anyone exploring the best restaurants in Skegness for classic local dining experiences, Hussey’S Fish & Chips remains worth considering for crisp battered fish, halloumi fries, family-friendly service, gluten-free choices, and its playful seaside atmosphere. Easter Sunday was busy but they accommodated us without booking, typical family restaurant. Service was a little slow but they were busy, portions were adequate for the average person, fish tasted freshly cooked. Overall a nice meal, tables inside beach huts was a lovely decorative feature along with chips served in sandcastle buckets.
My first time here, so taking the wifes advice. Had a walk & now it is large fish time. It does what it says. Very busy. I thinj it was better than sitting outside.
Even with it being a very busy Saturday, we were seated quickly, the staff were lovey, quick to take our order too. The restaurant is really fabulously decorated, I loved the huts. The drinks and food came super quickly. A range of food options and great choice and different meal choices. Food was good, and a really good value for money. Bonus points for the menus being super cute.
Visited today and not a bad word to say about this place. We were greeted and served by very welcoming happy staff, plenty to choose from and reasonable prices. We sat upstairs where it was very clean, nice and cool with the air con and nice view outside towards the clock tower. We chose this place as didn’t fancy queuing for ages at the other chippys and not to find a seat. Food came hot and was very tasty, nicest chips we have had down at Skegness for a long while. 3 empty plates. Will definitely be back.
I can't fault anything. Clean and great service. Beautifully cooked fish and chips fried in clean oil (yes you can tell). With thousands of visitors in the area peaks in demands can be hard to manage especially out of season due to staffing or when there is an event on. So queues can happen. Not the cheapest but everything was very good quality, so it was worth it.
Had a platter for lunch today and it was very good! I must say the battered sausage was one of the tastiest I have ever had. The platter also came with a fishcake, piece of haddock, chips and curry sauce (you could have also had beans). The chips were very nice too and cooked just right. Visiting from Canada and if I ever come this way again I will definitely stop by. The restaurant had a bright and colorful decor and the washrooms were clean.
I have a very good experience and the most important thing I have gluten intolerance issue and they have a gluten-free menu the gluten free fish and chips is very tasty I love the food.i ll recommend this restaurant if u visit Skegness
